Last winter a mom called one of our district offices to ask if we would be able to help her pregnant daughter with her heating bill. The young woman was no longer able to work due to her pregnancy and was beginning to fall behind on her bills. The mom was helping to support the daughter, but was not able to afford the tank of oil that was needed. Through the New Hampshire Catholic Charities Emergency Assistance Fund, the agency was able to provide the young woman with heating fuel. Both mother and daughter were very grateful for the help.
Recently, the parish and community outreach coordinator in the district office was approached by the mom. Her daughter gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby and was now planning her wedding. The daughter wanted to know if she could help other people who are facing situations like the one she experienced last winter. The daughter's plan was to forgo wedding favors and tell her guests that in lieu of favors, a donation was being made to the New Hampshire Catholic Charities Emergency Assistance Fund. She plans to have a notice at the sign-in table informing her guests of the donation and agency brochures will be available, so that her guests will know how New Hampshire Catholic Charities impacts the lives of so many in this state.
